The fantasy football playoffs are in full swing and there was plenty of drama in the first round of the playoffs this week. Explosive performances from teams like the Jacksonville Jaguars and Indianapolis Colts have resulted in some interesting weekly winners in the fantasy game.
Week 16 means the semifinals for most tournaments and every pickup you make can be the difference between making it to the championship game or bouncing a week shy of glory. 5. Best Fantasy Football Pickup of the Week 16 – Detroit Lions D/ST
The Hot Lions continue their push into the de facto NFL playoffs with a dramatic win over the New York Jets in Week 15. However, Detroit’s defense and special teams made the difference with four sacks, an interception by Zack Wilson and a punt touchdown.
The unit, which is listed in just four percent of the league, has a good matchup on tap for Week 16 as they welcome the Carolina Panthers. There are few explosive weapons in Carolina’s offense, and their offensive line allowed Sam Darnold to be sacked four times in a loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, a fine scheme for Detroit’s massive pass rush to follow.
Playing a match-up is a good strategy in the fantasy playoffs and Detroit has one of the best games of the week. Make sure to collect the Lions if you’re popping defenses or if your base unit has a tough encounter in Week 16.
